Nathan Avery-Williams

Prior to joining CCS legal, Nathan was a member of the New South Wales Bar from 2014 until 2022, acting in a wide range of general litigation matters with a focus on commercial, equity and estate law. Nathan was admitted to practice in 2009, commencing his career at a national firm where he worked on well-recognised commercial litigation and insolvency matters.

During his career Nathan has practiced in all Australian courts including the Court of Appeal of New South Wales, the Family Court of Appeal, the Federal Court of Australia, the Supreme Court of New South Wales, District and Local Courts and in a selection of tribunals. He has appeared in a number of prominent published decisions, particularly in Courts of Appeal and has acted for a number of high-profile estates.

Nathan is an expert in Court practice and procedure. He has a complete working knowledge of the Evidence Act 1995 (NSW) and the rules of evidence (both in the drafting of evidence and in Court) as well as the Uniform Civil Procedure Rules 2005 (NSW). He is also an expert in the Succession Act NSW (2006) and in particular, estate litigation in the form of Family Provision applications, probate litigation and equitable remedies.  

Nathan takes a pragmatic and commercial approach to dispute resolution and gives frank and honest advice about his clients’ causes of action and prospects of success. His approach to client service is empathic and personable and draws upon his many years of experience in dealing with clients and judges from a spectrum of socio-cultural, financial and professional backgrounds. He enjoys forming long-lasting relationships with his broad client base.
